My mom has had these chairs since I was a little girl. They have been out in our tree-house rusting for years. I've always loved their minimalist architectural look but it wasn't until I studied design that I realized they are replicas of the classic Bertoia Diamond Chairs. They have been in need of a little TLC for a while now so a few weekends ago Max and I decided to do a little home project and fix these babies up. The first task was to remove years of dirt and rust, then finish off with a fresh coat of paint. I opted to stick with the classic black and white look and used a spray primer and then flat paint. After hours of cleaning, sanding, scraping, painting (fueled by Spottily and Andygator) they came out looking pretty great! Inspired by images like these below, I chose to soften the chairs by adding a faux fur rug. The tejn faux sheepskin rug from Ikea did just the trick and I couldn't be happier with the end result. My sweet little chairs look good as new!
