It’s no secret that I love Targé (more commonly known as Target). Of course I appreciate gorgeous antiques and
one-of-a-kind pieces but for a young girl on a budget like me, Target is one of
my favorites. Target’s numerous designer collaborations have evolved their
products over the years to be on-trend while still affordable, and there’s no
sign of stopping. Target is partnering with Nieman Marcus and 24
top designers, like Diane von Furstenberg, Alice and Olivia, Marc Jacobs, and
Oscar de la Renta to name a few, for a collection debuting this December.
Lines like Thomas O’ Brien and Smith & Hawken
have given Target a new edge in interiors and a fresh look. I’m loving the recent
Nate Berkus collection, and the new
Target exclusive brand Threshold is
beautifully warm, textural, and just in time for Fall. So if you haven’t
perused your local Target’s home section get out there and see for yourself –
and here are a few tips for the savvy Targé shopper…
- Shop smart – Target is great for affordable décor updates and accessories. Splurge on pieces that you will have for the long-haul elsewhere and shop Target for chic accessories that you can afford to change out every so often like throws, pillows, lamps, etc.
- Mix it up – Target tends to sort their home section by color and style. Do a run through first and then go back and mix it up. Just because it’s in the “yellow and earth tones” section of the aisle doesn't mean it won’t look great with that red geometric pillow a few aisles over.
- Avoid the trend trap – avoid trends that fade fast, instead go for pieces that will look higher-end when paired with your existing décor and furniture.
- Material matters – pay attention to the quality of the material; polyester, faux silk, and faux fur tend to look cheap. Just because you know you got it at a low price doesn't mean everyone else should.
- Don’t be fooled – not everything at Target is a good deal, some target items can get pretty pricey. Pay attention, sometimes you can find something more unique or better quality for the same price elsewhere.
