good ole' family style fun

Over the weekend my family and I set out on a fun-filled family day to the apple orchards in Elijay, Georgia. Me and my mom, aunt, cousin, brother and his girlfriend visited B.J. Reece apple orchards and could not have asked for a more gorgeous day. We visited the petting zoo, shot the apple cannon, and ate apples straight off the tree- johnny appleseed style! We enjoyed a day full of good ole' family style fun!
Unfortunately the rest of our family wasn't able to join because they were cheering on the Tide in Tuscaloosa (which is the only valid excuse) but it wasn't the same without them!

Tomorrow, September 26, is Johnny Appleseed day- what a coincidence.

very festive with all the pumpkins and apples

a daily inspiration

"He is good. Trust in Him. Know that all is well. Say "God is good. God is good." Just leave in His Hands the present and the future, knowing only that He is good. He can bring order out of chaos, good out of evil, peace out of turmoil. God is good.

I and My Father are One. One in desire to do good. For God to do good to His children is for Him to share His goodness with them. God is good, anxious to hare His goodness, and good things, with you, and He will do this.

Trust and be not afraid."
- A.J. Russell, God Calling

A dear friend of mine shared God Calling with me when I graduated college, saying that it would help me on my life's journey as a daily devotional. Since then I have often referred to this book as a daily source of guidance and inspiration, especially in times of trouble. Some days it is just what I need to help me step back, see the big picture, and remember what it is really all about. This devotional was one of those that brought me great comfort. I wanted to share it because I'm sure that it will do the same for you.

Alex Leopold

Over the weekend, Max and I ventured to the beautiful historic loft district of downtown Birmingham to check out the 10th annual ArtWalk. The two-day arts festival featured work of over 100 visual artists and was complete with live music and food and drink vendors. The fabulous art, gorgeous architecture, and cobblestone street humming with local music set the scene for a great (and FREE) weekend adventure.

Among all of the wonderful work one artist in particular caught my eye, Alex Leopold. His work was unlike any I've seen and sparked that emotional, inspiring, "o-m-g I love that" moment in me. These are a few of my favorite pieces, learn more and check out his wonderful work at www.alexleopold.com
