Alex Leopold

Over the weekend, Max and I ventured to the beautiful historic loft district of downtown Birmingham to check out the 10th annual ArtWalk. The two-day arts festival featured work of over 100 visual artists and was complete with live music and food and drink vendors. The fabulous art, gorgeous architecture, and cobblestone street humming with local music set the scene for a great (and FREE) weekend adventure.

Among all of the wonderful work one artist in particular caught my eye, Alex Leopold. His work was unlike any I've seen and sparked that emotional, inspiring, "o-m-g I love that" moment in me. These are a few of my favorite pieces, learn more and check out his wonderful work at www.alexleopold.com

a little humor

One of my favorite go-to blogs for a good laugh is Unhappy Hipsters. It's a humorous take on the "lonely world" of modern design and architecture. The captions literally make me laugh out loud.

Another one of my favorites is Plethora for iphone. Plethora is a design inspiration gallery with amazing images of all kinds. While perusing Plethora the images below caught my attention because I instantly imagined the unhappy hipster inspired captions to go along with each.

Hope they give you the chuckle they gave me...

Timmy had no need for childish things such as play-dates or summer camp,  he much preferred tantalizing conversation with his stuffed broccoli over imaginary tea.

every home needs...

One of my dearest friends is moving away! *tear*
Callaway and I met in the awkward, puberty stricken years of middle school. I thought she was too cool for school (which she was) and we've been friends ever since. After growing up in Atlanta, attending college at the University of Georgia, and returning to Atlanta post graduation, Callaway is now setting sail for Tallahassee Florida where she will begin her first year of Law School at FSU.
Among the sadness of seeing her go and the excitement of what lies ahead for her is the ever daunting task of moving. yuck. BUT... with moving comes a new home and getting that pulled together is the best!

So, what does my dearest Callaway need to make her new place feel like home? Well, here are a few of my favorite things that I believe EVERY home needs...

a fun pop of color
a favorite piece of artwork
a "do-it-yourself" touch
an touch of humor
a collection of favorite photos of family and friends
someone to miss you when you are away

and a well stocked bar for the impromptu party with friends

I am so proud of you Callaway and excited for this next chapter in your life. Congratulations! I love you sista!
