Holiday Recap

This Christmas was unlike any other, to say the least. Max worked over Christmas so we spent a few days together, having some holiday fun around Birmingham, before I headed out to Atlanta. We caught "A Christmas Story" at the Alabama Theatre, made christmas cookies, exchanged gifts, and spent a beautiful afternoon in Railroad Park.

In Atlanta, it didn't exactly feel like Christmas with the never-ending rain and high 70 temperatures. On Christmas Eve, we discovered that my mom's basement was flooding, which caused us to miss the Christmas Eve church service for the first time ever. Later that night, our 13 year old pug ruby suddenly became unable to walk or stand, and after a vet visit we discovered she has pinched nerves and a slipped disc that may require surgery. Despite this series of events that felt like we were living in a holiday comedy, it was so great to catch up with family (especially my brother and cousins at the "kids table") and enjoy great food and lots of much needed lounging. Bruce was the happiest little nugget with all the excitement, plus his new toy!

After Christmas, Max and I headed to Blue Ridge Georgia for a New Years Eve getaway with our friends Kate and Niko. We rented the most adorable little cabin in the woods and finally got some freezing temperatures, which made it extra cozy. We spent our time catching up by the fire, exploring downtown Blue Ridge, playing games, roasting s'mores, and relaxing. Their golden Cora and our pug Bruce had too much fun rough housing and snuggling (these pictures tho...). It was the best way to ring in the new year!

While it wasn't exactly perfect, it was a wonderful couple of weeks celebrating Christmas and the New Year with some of the people I love most. I hope you and yours had a very lovely holiday!
