I have a serious case of the Monday blues today.
Over the weekend, I spent some quality time with my boyfriend Max in Birmingham and it was so wonderful. It was one of those weekends where it felt like we got to do
a little of everything. We had dinner with friends, caught a movie, visited
with family, cooked together, went out for brunch, took a neighborhood walk,
and even grocery shopped. {It’s the
little things.} The hardest thing about being long distance is missing the
opportunity to just be together in a normal, run-of-the-mill, everyday kind of
way. The best thing about long
distance is that being together means so much that even simple things like
grocery shopping become special. This weekend, it felt like the perfect combination
of both, and when it came time to leave Sunday afternoon I just couldn’t bring
myself to go. So in an effort to avoid the goodbyes and the lonely drive back I
opted to stay the night and leave first thing this morning. As it turns out,
saying goodbye Monday morning is just as bad as on Sunday night. As I drove back to Atlanta this morning on the dark and empty highway, I
found myself singing along to my favorite sad songs. There’s something so
comforting about those good ole’ moody favorites. Sometimes it’s just what you
need when you’re feeling down and need some mood music for your wallowing. You know, to really set the tone for a case of the Monday blues. These are a few of my favorites...
