The Danish government put into action a reform to "promote innovation and self-directed learning", the result? a bold and unique approach to design within learning environments, case and point Ørestad College. Throwing out the rules of the past and the four walls that used to define a classroom, Ørestad uses a central atrium to create open learning zones and utilize the horizontal space- "the design promotes reflective, collaborative learning and mimics the way teenagers think, learn and socialize". This space is a perfect example of truly innovative and inspiring architecture and design.
