On My Radar :: Fall Wishlist

Well hello there! Life has been flying by and it's hard to believe that Fall is upon us. While it's still sunshine sand and surf here in California, the cooler evening temperatures have me thinking of Fall textures and patterns. Here are a few things on my radar this season :

Levi's altered trucker jacket : love the no collar and cut hem - perfect for fall temps
Cora frames by Warby Parker :  a subtle cat eye and warm tortoise pattern with a rose arm - yes please!
Sam Edelman Corra Tapestry Ankle Boots : because these would make me feel like stevie nicks
Mac Velvet Teddy : according to Courtney Kerr the perfect neutral
OPI Beyond the Pale Pink : truly the perfect white with a touch of soft pink
McGee & Co. Decorative Beads : I have to admit, I was a hater at first but I'm starting to really get onboard with this decorative beads idea on a coffee table or side table...
Free People Deep V Bandeau Cami : this silk and lace combo in the oversized fit and deep color - YES!
Banana Leaf Palm : the perfect coastal touch in our apartment!
A kitty kat for Bruce : because he needs a friend!!!

Long Beach Living // A Tour of our Home (so far...)

It's been a little over three months now since we moved into our apartment in Long Beach and it's really starting to feel like home! Our space has tons of natural light and historic charm, which we love. Of course any new home brings it's challenges (in our case - how to adjust to no storage and life without air conditioning) but overall it's a great fit for our little family. It's a work in progress and there's still so much to be done (new sofa, guest bedroom, etc. etc.) but I wanted to share a few photos of how we've styled out our space so far!

Also please note Bruce posing in all these photos - he LOVES having his picture taken, is swear I didn't put him there he just loves to be the center of attention, if you can find him that is! Ha!

The bathroom has this great old retro pink, burgundy, black and green tile - it's a little beat up but it's got so much character it's totally grown on me!

On My Radar // Wicker + Rattan

One of my very favorite pieces of furniture is a wicker hutch that I got off the side of the road - one of my elderly neighbors was getting rid of it and it is fabulous! Despite Max's disgust we took it home and after a quick wipe down and lysol spritz it was good as new. 

Of course rattan and wicker decor has been around for decades but this trend is having a major moment right now. You can find beautiful retro-inspired pieces at almost every retailer these days - Anthropologie, West Elm, Ikea, Target, you name it! Of course there's no place like Etsy and vintage shops to get the real deal - pieces that are actually from the 60s and 70s.

It's funny how things that are old become new again and the trends cycle on. Let it be a lessson learned - never get rid of anything that your husband says is "old and gross" because it just might be your new favorite piece! (Another lesson - "rattan" refers to the material and "wicker" is the technique. Thanks google!)
