this wonderfully busy life

Sorry for the silence around here, its been a wonderfully busy couple of weeks! Max and I went to the head and the heart concert at Iron City a few weeks ago with some friends and it was a great show! Last weekend, we threw Max's mom's a surprise party for her 60th birthday;  It was a great event if I do say so myself and we loved having our families in town.  Last week, I traveled to Chattanooga for work and stayed in the most charming waterfront bed and breakfast in the Bluff View Arts District.  Aaaannnnd over the weekend, my best girlfriend Kate and her husband Niko came to visit us in Birmingham! They had never been to Bham so we spent the weekend showing them all of our favorites local spots. I loved having them here!
All of the exciting things going on lately made me stop and realize how thankful I am for this busy time in my life. While my packed schedule can sometimes get the best of me, I'm thankful to have friends to visit, family to celebrate, work to travel with, and a city we just love exploring. Finding joy in the hustle of the day to day is a lovely thing.
Happy Monday! May your week be filled with lots of lovely things.

Ikea + Pinterest for the win!

If you have been following along on my blog, you already know that I am a believer in the layered and lived in approach when it comes to decorating your home. I love furnishings and accessories that have been collected over time, that have a story, or have been passed down through the years. When Max and I moved into our new space we were fortunate to have a great stash of furnishings and accessories to pull from thanks to our moms years of collecting and great taste. One thing we didn't have was a media console for our TV. We made do for a while with a low bench but our space really needed something bigger and brighter. I found this piece at Ikea that was stylish and affordable but unfortunately it was a little too small in scale. Later, while perusing Pinterest I came across this inspiration image and couldn't believe I hadn't thought of it myself; get two and put them together! Duh! So a quick Atlanta and Ikea trip later, here we have it – a $200, bigger, brighter, media console solution that we just love! It’s a great look for our space, adds a brightness that we needed, and didn't break the bank. Ikea + Pinterest for the win! Next up, a new coffee table!...
