Add Life :: a design philosophy by Justina Blakeney

I found this amazing quote on Pinterest and it couldn't be more true. I love that it actually includes the source and even links to the website. Isn't it great when that happens? Unlike the emerald bow tow pumps I fell in love with that I can't for the life of me track down. This was one of those times where Pinterest functioned as it was intended; I find a beautiful quote, pin it, link to the designer's website, and bam - I've discovered a new designer and blog that inspires me. The Justina Blakeney blog does just that. Justina is a designer, author, blogger, and stylist based in L.A. and I love her creative blog design, colorful content, and most of all her design philosophy.

JUSTINA’S DESIGN PHILOSOPHY
I believe that good design increases quality of life. I believe in vintage, organic and handmade. I believe in the healing power of plants, good light and fresh air.  I believe that objects carry the stories of their makers–so things that are made with love, care and good materials bring those qualities with them where-ever they go.  I believe in recycling. I believe in diversity. I believe that design can save the world.

over the weekend

Do you ever have those times when you wish you could just bottle up the moment, so you could remember the feeling forever? That's how I felt over the weekend. Max and I were both sick, hot tea & sweatpants kind of sick, and I don't know if it was the excuse to be lazy together or the cooler weather but it was all kinds of great. We lounged around watching football while my sweet mama baked homemade apple cakes. Oh. my. gosh. those apple cakes! Something about seeing my mom all spread out in the kitchen, and smelling her delicious homemade food, just feels so good. We finally got pumpkins for our doorstep, snuggled the pugs, and even broke out our hoodie and flannels for a coffee date. It's finally feeling like Fall around here and I for one am loving it. I hope you all had a comfy cozy weekend too!

party time, #TargetStyle

The new Target Threshold commercials make me want to throw a party. The table setting, the cozy-casual vibe, her pants... I love it all. The Threshold line has so many great pieces for house and home and their approach to decor is refreshingly simple and stylish. Check out the #TargetStyle videos for some great tips on how to throw the perfect party, dress your home, and welcome your guests.
