table matters

When it comes to furnishings, my taste is wide and varied, but one thing I always believe in is to use pieces that you find interesting. It's important to select things that speak to you for one reason or another -may it be because they are beautiful, unique or plain out strange. While perusing Etsy.com, these particular tables caught my eye for all these very reasons...

love repurposed vintage pieces, like this old crate

this combination of natural driftwood and acrylic is stunning

this is how my dad would decorate... if he decorated.

this piece has history you can see
this would be a great piece anyways, but the fact that it glows... fab!

so tacky-fabulous! talk about a conversation piece

puzzling and beautiful all at the same time

These tables are only a few of the treasures that i discovered on Etsy, for these tables and other great finds visit Etsy.com

tastes of summer

One of the many reasons that I love the summer is all of the delicious summer-time eats.  Fresh fruits and veggies from the Farmer's Market, homegrown tomatoes, seafood at the beach, brewfest (or any festival for that matter) are some of my favorite tastes of summer

Over the past few summer months, I have collected snapshots of some of my favorite summer tastes and traditions... yum!

amazing farmers market fruit...

... and veggies...
...great for homemade pizza.
crawfish at a summer concert

bacon, avocado and tomato sandwich- my new fav!

beer tasting at Brewfest in Birmingham...

...one of my annual favorites!

low country boil - perfect for a family meal at the beach

delicious homemade salsa
 (learn how here)

home grown veggies...

...makes the perfect healthy snack.

seafood dinner at the beach, yum!

What are your favorite tastes of summer?

fourth of july

This Fourth of July weekend was a wonderful vacation get away for me, Max, my long lost best friend Kate and her bf Niko. Kate and Niko traveled from Charleston and met us in Hilton Head Island where we had some fun in the sun and celebrated America and all her glory!

For us, the fourth of july was all about...
celebrating America
catching up with friends
breaking out your best red white and blue
having some fun with the boyfriends
creating the perfect festive treats
catching some rays on the beach
and enjoying the freedom to celebrate however we choose,
making many memories along the way
