HGTV Green Home 2012 at Serenbe

A recent trip out to Serenbe, a sustainable community outside of Atlanta, brought me to the HGTV Green Home 2012 - a "Modern Southern Farmhouse" that was full of unique and high-end sustainable solutions and lots of character, color, and style. These are a few iphone snapshots that I took while touring - this place is a must see! Sustainable materials were used beautifully throughout the space, like the gorgeous Dex Terrazzo counter tops made with recycled Sweetwater beer bottles (image 5), how cool is that!? Innovative architecture also played a key part in making this home sustainable and stylish - such as interior windows (cut outs in the interior walls) that allowed views and light from the front of the house to be seen from the back rooms (images 7 and 8). This unique feature was carried out throughout the house in the kitchen, bedrooms, bathrooms, you name it! And of course I couldn't get enough of the great loft in the children's bedroom, complete with a pulley and pale for transporting toys up and down (images 9 and 10). This home is perfectly stylish and sustainable for the modern family. Check out the virtual tour, professional photographs, and find more information here.
